After skiing the haute route last year, my intrepid life partner and I were eager for more of the plush ski touring afforded by the European hut system. (Can we petition for new US land use rules plz?)
This year, we opted for the Ortler circuit on the recommendation of NW guide and all-around nice guy Nick Pope. We were rewarded with a beautiful 8-day weather window that allowed us several summits and many good meals. An extensive photo post follows the link:

I'm planning to put together a more succinct bit of beta for anyone who wants to follow suit. If I forget to, or if you have questions, post them through the blog and I'll get back to you.

Nailed it! Looked like an amazing trip.
Nice! You had better weather than us but sounds like the same mix of snow. Branca hut rules! As do the roman baths in Bormio, btw...
That's so great to cover such terrain with such light gear. Euro huts are onto something. Maybe CBA can convince us the powers that be to put a hut-to-hut system somewhere in the Cascades (not counting on it ;-)
