I braved the 30% chance of showers forecast to ski at the Ridge. Dense fog on the way up cleared nicely, and the closed ski area still held lots of snow 200 yards from the parking lot. I did runs down to the lift shack at the base of the Poma; continuous snow went a bit lower. There was black pollen on my bases after each run that had to be wiped off. Skinning up Sunset Ridge, I ran into Ron L carrying his snowboard, and we took a run together and booted up after my skins got saturated.
Plenty of snow on N-facing slopes for this time of year, and the road has been plowed to the Hurricane Hill trailhead, where I believe there will still be snow on the back side. The high country is still full of the white stuff; with high snow and roads opening up down low, there could be several weeks of good spring touring.
