Glad to find the lookout empty though it needed some digging. The road is in good shape, the snow blocked us at a switch back leaving about a mile for walking and another for skinning before reaching piles of avy debris just before the TH. We took the winter route up and skied the main valley down. Since the last ridge was corniced, we took the lower route up around to the lookout. We spent a few hours digging the doorway and clearing the snow off the roof. Such a gorgeous place to hang out when it is calm and warm.
Skiing late AM next day was enjoyable though the snow got progressively heavier lower.
It is wonderful to be able to spend nights with gorgeous views all around. Thanks to all those volunteers for maintaining the lookout!! More pics here.

Thanks for the great pictures and report, looks like some serious digging was involved. Weather looked flawless as well!

Everyone should know- if you utilize a hut that is maintained by volunteers, you should-
1- bring hut booties (shoes).
2- dont kick snow off ski boots in hut, or on door jamb.
3- cook outside when you can.
4- leave it better than you found it.
5- (list can be added to by others).
Just posting because huts "exploited" on the internet tend to become more visited (imagine that). As a result, Winchester Hut is now closed in winter.
