April 23, 2018, Up and Over Silver Peak

We left one car at the Annette Lake trailhead and went up Silver Peak from the Silver Fir chairlift. The back side to the lake skied well - though I'm still in the AT learning phase moving from tele.
Crossed the frozen lake, doodled around on a stream crossing, and skied to the John Wayne Trail - barely. Lots of avys on the west side of the valley, some that had swept to almost to the creek. The debris was soft so was easy to traverse. I think this was the last weekend to get this loop as the lower end is about to turn into the alder/salmonberry/devil's club fest.

Sweet thanks. I take it you descended the west side of the creek drainage from Lake Annette. I have always wanted to try this. Aside from low snow are there any other major issues to know about?
Correct - descend to the lake then stay in open area west of creek.
The slope itself should be good skiing for a while yet, but the valley to John Wayne Trail will melt out this week - so you could climb back up and out the regular way.

Those first two pixs are so motivating!!!! Â ::)
