Spent 3 days in Garibaldi Provincial park, near Squamish, staying at the Elfin Lakes hut. Trail to the hut gains about 2000 ft in 11 km and is easily navigable thanks to orange wands placed every 100 yards (which came in handy as arrival day was foggy and snowing hard). Day 2 was a mix of snow, fog and sun breaks. Our last day was mostly clear, allowing us to soak up the incredible views of the snow covered Coast Range mountains and even Howe Sound in places. There are many excellent day trips with good skiing from the hut including Columnar peak, the Gargoyles and Round Mountain/Paul ridge. We found variable snow conditions typical for the season but turns were generally enjoyable. Didn't observe any recent avy activity though we avoided steeper terrain as forecast was considerable. Snow pack is easily 10-12 feet near the hut so a long spring season is anticipated. We were able to skin from the parking area which can be accessed with a standard car although the last mile is pretty rough. I think the lower elevation snow will hold out for a couple more weeks at which point some hiking may be required to access snow line.
The hut accommodates 30 people in wooden bunks, is heated by propane and has propane cook stoves. Reservations are made on line (about $20 a night per person). We shared the hut with a variety of friendly people who mostly arrived on snowshoes. Weekends are quite busy there I heard.
The only negative about the trip was getting through Vancouver which seems to have traffic as bad or worse than Seattle now.
