Longtime lurker and first time poster here. We had a great time yesterday skiing SE aspects on Jove in the Steven's Pass area yesterday. Access from Smith Brook Road is still very snowy and there is a skin track we followed halfway up Union and then pushed it onward. Abundant signs of tree bombs and pinwheels in the trees with some very firm spots in more open terrain. No signs of natural- or skier-triggered slab activity. We approached Jove from the top of Union under high overcast that was rapidly clearing.

We arrived on the summit of Jove about 30mins after the sun started blasting and chose to ski the east-most aspect of the main south face after down-traversing a small section on the NE face to avoid exposure on the main gut. The line skied beautifully with rapidly developing corn...and perhaps even a few 'woots' were had. Finding the road was very straightforward at the base of the drainage and we followed it up and over arriving back at the car an hour or so later. 7h car-to-car.
The south face of Jove is a great line.  The approach via the Ridge on Union Peak is straight forward, but the wind can create cornice features that makes for a bit of meandering back into the dense trees.  The only part of this tour that I would like to explore, would be to be able to navigate a way up the ridge to the east of Rainy Pass and not ski the road but a ski a line that would drop you down onto the road closer to where you leave the road on the approach.  The terrain looks a bit tricky and the conditions would need to be perfect. Wondering if those lines get skied?

Meant to ridge North of the Rainy Pass road and south facing runs.
