Skied Mt Herman today. Stayed in Enchanted trees. 7-14 inches of cold storm snow on crust. Snow was poorly bonded. Anything convex or unsupported fractured and propagated. We Ski cut several size 1 slabs that ran loose, fast and went a long way.

From our perch across the lake basin we witnessed two riders in Ten Minute Trees set off a large size 2 -3 avalanche that propagated along the entire  ridge-line all the way from the bottom of Martha's Step to within 50 - 100 metres of the backcountry gate. The whole slope went with a loud whoosh. Very frightening stuff. Luckily no one was injured.

It's hair trigger conditions right now so heads up if you are headed into the area this holiday weekend. Lots of new snow coming. It's going to take a few days for that layer to consolidate.

NWAC rating was considerable today. High for saturday. The NWAC forecast and condition discussion for the area was as accurate as you could hope for. Great work at NWAC!
