Heavenly Valley 2/13/18

Though I'm always searching for powder, steeps, or nice bumps, today was a beauty of a groomer day at this lovely, large resort. First ride up, earlier freezing fog, had turned all of the Nevada trees postcard perfect. Yesterday's powder had been blown around creating nasty windcake on the eastside, so I cruised to California and found cold sunshine that would keep the snow good all day. I reflected on the fact that I'd first skied this resort over 45 years ago, then quickly moved on...

Dropping back into Nevada, I found that the fog had finally lifted, and got to ski in the sun all the way home. It's mostly man made snow, and not perfect. But it doesn't normally snow in the Sierra, like it did when I was young. If not for the snow guns, Heavenly would be Closed this season. They are doing a fine job with what they have.
