Stevens- Mon 2/12- finally off piste

Yee Ha! Finally got in some good runs off the groomers. On the backside, in the sun, Orion went off, well sort of. About 1130 I traversed over from Jupiter to Orion and it was skiable! It was pretty icy on the flatter areas but on the sleeper areas which had more sun exposure it was proto-corn. It got better as the day went on. I ended up doing four laps in the Orion area, with some other runs mixed in, including two from the top of Southern Cross. The groomers were pretty good. In the early a.m., they were nice with the recent grooming. Later on, they got scrapie, but some sugar snow piles started to form, especially in the edges. Just a beautiful sunny day with no crowd.

It was nice to finally have a day with no fog! Minimal crowds and good visibility = great day to break out the alpine downhill race skis!
