Which Beacon Basins/Parks are currently operating? was created by Charlie Hagedorn
Saturday is looking like a great day to practice companion rescue. Which beacon parks are operational?

Susan's TAY-FB thread from 12/14 suggests that Stevens' park was open, but Alpental's was off. Is that still correct?

Thanks!

Even if the one at Alpental was running, you'd have a hard time probing through all the ice in the upper snowpack to hit the targets

Alpental is running, but only 2 pads are operational at this time. The ice is bad. We'll be working on the site this week to get more pads going and at least break up the ice around them.

@FHNC-'the Beacon Training Park is a system created to make it easier to practice with your transceiver. It features six permanently buried transmitters wired to a central control panel. To change the scenario, you can just flick the on/off switches on the control panel. '
Here are the current locations of WA State Beacon Basins/Training Parks:
Mission Ridge-https://www.missionridge.com/avalanche-beacon-park
Crystal Mountain-https://www.crystalmountainresort.com/the-mountain/mountain-
Alpental- www.summitatsnoqualmie.com/mountains/saf...ty/avalanche-safety/
Stevens Pass(not on the website)
Not sure about Mt Baker.

Don't be silly. The transceivers in those parks are transmitting, yes? A transmitting transceiver is a beacon. So is any transmitting gadget really.
