We rang in the new year by taking my little one out for his first ever ski day. Nevermind that dad did all the skiing and he rode along in a chest carrier, I'm still going to claim he was skiing before he could walk. Tronsen Meadows was the destination of choice for low angle touring with a healthy dose of solitude. Snow coverage is really low – lots of grass sticking out in the meadows still. We didn't stray much from the XC trails, but I can't imagine the skiing was good up high. There was breakable crust everywhere we poked off trail. Still a great day of being out in the mountains, and the boy squealed with joy when I picked up speed on the road ski out. He'll be a great little ski buddy in a few years' time. Cheers to a happy and healthy 2018!

Are you sure there is a kid in there somewhere?  Glad to see you are getting out and about with the youngster!

He'll be asking for new boots and boards in no time!  Enjoy the cheap seats while you can.

No in utero skiing I take it?
