Gambled on the murk over Snow Lake Divide. The sun didn't come out at that elevation, but at the far end of Snow Lake, Nature put on a show.

Chunder avoidance was the order of the day. If it's definitely an avalanche slope, it almost definitely slid. If it's probably an avalanche slope, it probably slid. Large debris on Chair down to Source Lake, Roosevelt and Wright slid, too.

Where there's no chunder, there can be 5-10 cm of dry snow over the prominent raincrust. Pow was preserved on shady slopes and below the east-flow cloud-a-lanche. Expect the pow to be scoured down to the mostly-edgeable crust anywhere the wind could get it.

East wind was moving snow over ridgelines and across Snow Lake all day. Thin windslab in spots, but nothing of concern.

No instability observed, pillows were as resistant to kicking as they get.

Best snow on shallow-angle un-chundered slopes out of the sun. Think rambly hippy-pow turns with good views.

Happy New Year, TAY! Looking forward to seeing TRs from you for another great year to come.
traffic going up the Alpental side of the source lake dog park trail was the suck.

It was a good day for skinning up and skiing down the groomers at Hyak today...
