17/18 Padded Seats was created by pipedream
Opening weekend was moderately alright, average at best compared to last season, but still plenty of terrain to sink one's edges into while reinstalling the moguls around the mountain. Strong temperature inversion kept the snow down low fluffy and light while offering spring-like conditions from The Fan up. Nash rode great, Adrenaline offered some wonderfully dry, chalky snow, and Snake Dance was available for those wishing to test their mettle in navigating low tide conditions through heavy fog.

Crowds were light both days, Lot 2 served as a satellite Lot 4 as the return trail to the source lake uphill dog park TH has yet to exist, & the soup was enriched with copious amounts of Vitamin R. The padded seats get a much-needed break to catch their breath before coming back to life on Thurs.

better than mediocre today but that's not saying much
deep snow in parking lots required strong driving skills
lots of little pockets of snow running under driven skis

The first mediocre Tues. delivered as expected. Armstrong loaded as soon as the highway reopened, snow removal didn't make an appearance until after the shuttle got stuck in the turnaround, blocking access to the lots on the proper side of the creek, and l'Internationale wasn't safe for the public until after 1:30. But the company was good and the snow was deep so I'm still happy...

Someone I shared a padded seat with said many folks turned around when I-90 reopened... I wish I had the legs to ride under the lights this evening, too.

Mediocre crowd (not sure what means but it's funny) never a line
Morning was cold and fast
Then at 11 AM, surprise
Nash gate opens, and first tracks are made down Draft Dodger and Machs

LoT4 was interesting today and the source lake dog park trail was a joke.
NWAC, bless their heart, set up a coffee kiosk directly below the water tower.
a dog or a set of snow shoes and up they went with a courtesy cup of joe.
I hope they explained that the Alpental Valley is not mediocre avy terrain.
uphill traffic outnumbered downhill skier traffic by@37%, lots of new poop.

From 9 until 10:30 it was a country club with about 40 or so, very mediocre
Haven't cut the traverse out on Lower I since the 80s probably (ok there's always a patrol track)
Way softer and smoother then anticipated, great turns
Merry Christmas, the present is always the best

Made it in time to bag 4 laps down Sharon's knolls after heartcarving the groomers in the morning @ the end of the street. Caught last chair by the skin of my teeth and finished the day breaking trail with a skier friend thru the Cirque of Leaps. Would highly recommend exiting via GB Trees should you find yourself at the bottom of Billington's, otherwise YMMV

Indeed no lift lines, nice country club day. Great to see you Flo, and Q at our snack break. Sorry to miss your ladies. Snow was 3" on a 1/2" rain crust of last night. As expected debris was impressive in Edelweiss powder bowl, below shot 6 and 5, and Lower International. Upper International was fairly smooth I thought, thanks to few consumers

more sledders than skiers
right side of nash was fine
lower is a puzzle of debris
grooming is getting wider:-)
appears that, parking anywhere for snow play, is ok on Alpental Road.

The best place to park on Alpy road
Is next to the No Parking sign
NYE definitely had more snowplayers then skiers
Today, just fast skiing in inverted sunshine
Oh, Nash was groomed........by the wind

what a fabulously mediocre day to ski Alpental. Edelweiss was better
than spring soft and nash was a smooth chalky joy to ski down.
