Salomon S/Lab SHIFT MNC Binding was created by Norseman
A little heavy for the longtouron perhaps (though apparently even Greg Hill has been on these mostly since injury with low-tech pins), this new binding from Salomon looks like a really nice competitor to the Kingpin for a true all-purpose binding.

Thanks for posting that. I hadn't seen this one yet. Looks like a pretty innovative toe. Lots of moving parts in there. I will be curious to see how they hold up to abuse from the early adopters (little metal and carbon infused polymer)...

FWIW:
Greg Hill's broken leg occurred during an avalanche...
With professional athletes gear usage may be related to sponsorship.

Does look like a spiffy binding

Mr. Hill had attributed the broken leg to his tech binders not releasing in the slide, IIRC. And of course sponsorship affects gear use... but in his case, he has access to the Solly MTN yet chose to use the heavier new binding through it's development cycle.
