Quick TR from a quick trip to see how the neighborhood is filling in. Skinned/skied from/to the car at pass level. Snowpack at and above 4.4k will probably allow fun turns on open slopes. Shrubbery below 4.4k is probably quite unfun.

Weather: Light flurries, visibility below 200m for the entire three-hour tour.

Zipper crust present at pass level below the newest snow, absent above 4k on shady NW slopes. New snow was soft, dry, and warm; binding autorotation and topsheet snow buildup was notable. Ridgeline tall-trees had some plastering on the NW side.

Quick profile at 4.4k on NW slope with limited windloading is shown in the attached photo. Height of snow in the pit, 125 cm, 105 cm nearby on flatter ground. Below the prominent crust, snow is soggy and 1F-4F. CT may have found a storm layer in the top 20 cm, but ECT and subsequent caveman shovel-shear found nothing.

Instability noted: None. Nada.

It is a blessing to have peaceful places so close by.
Nice snow pit! Thanks for sharing it as I doubt many would take the time for that. I know it's rare that I do more than just quick tests.

What were you poking the snow with?

Left to right: 1F, 4F, fist.
