Watersprite Lake hut open to public

I'm writing as the director of cabins and trails for the British Columbia Mountaineering Club. Watersprite Lake is 20 km east of Squamish B.C. The BCMC built a 10-person hut at the lake. It sits at 1300 meters elevation and has similar weather to Elfin Shelter in Garibaldi Park. The hut can be booked by the public. It is $20 CDN/night for non-BCMC members. It's a coastal climate so there's the usual yo-yo freezing levels you'd expect for something like Mount Baker. Often there's good snow on north and south facing slopes around the lake. It's a steep area so not really suitable for newbies. Check out our cancellation policy on the booking site. It allows for refunds in verifiable hazardous snow conditions or winter driving conditions. It is possible to fly in from Squamish. Check with Black Tusk Helicopters for a quote.

Right now, you can only book two months in advance to give priority to club bookings.

What's the beta on the approach to the hut? Looking at BC topo maps, there are a maze of logging roads and it's unclear where to park and the recommended route in.

Cabin is locked so you need to pay to get the door access code.

Take the Mamquam FSR from Sea to Sky Highway. The intersection is at the rock climber's parking lot just north of the Chief. If you get to the Casino/gas station intersection you've gone too far. Mamquam FSR is generally plowed in winter to the Skookum power plant around KM 16 but you'll still need 4WD HC and chains a lot of the time. You can ski in from the power plant to the cabin in about 4 to 6 hours. It takes about the same time going either the summer or winter route. Maybe 30 minutes shorter by the winter route but it needs more snow than there is now.
