Really cool. Thanks for sharing.
As an average everyday Joe Blow PNW skier, there have been a number of times I have been blown away by my local ski community.
Two of those instances involve Lowell, who probably doesn't even know me by name.
One was when I found myself as part of a small but enthusiastic group skiers lapping Southback, having a blast, and keeping an eye out for each other. There were a couple all-stars in the group (including Lowell), and I just appreciated that I could be so gracefully accepted as a ski buddy for the afternoon.
The other time was the simple, but extraordinary efforts of Lowell and other authors to sign a copy of Martin's Washington ski guide book for my Brother who was undergoing cancer treatment at UW Med Center a couple years ago. Very appreciated.
Ski On!

I started working at Fluke in 1991 when both Lowell and Steph worked there. Never worked with Lowell but I did with Stephanie. She was a highly regarded leader and a favorite amongst the staff. Recently, Fluke named their newly remodeled fitness center after her.

What a great article about an even greater person - thanks J. P. for sharing and thanks to you Lowell for all you do for NW Skiers.
The mountains give and the mountains take away, but at the end of the day,
I still believe they give more than they take.

Great article about Lowell and well deserved. Lowell's impressive NW mountain accomplishments are easy to appreciate. I think it is equally impressive to accomplish what he has and have the balanced life that Steph and Lowell have lived.

So wonderful to see tributes to this living legend named Lowell Skoog. All too often our society glorifies those only after death.Â
Thank you Lowell for documenting your pioneering pursuits in our higher mountains and how much is possible when sliding through our higher terrain. As I've shared before, you opened the door for some of my bigger wanders and I will always be grateful.
Cheers good man.
