Does the SW Chute go this time of year? At least to some degree?

I heard yesterday was awesome in the SW chutes! ... If you had a time machine.

From October 4th a few years ago.

Skiing conditions were quite good this year on August 15 and 16.

With the snowfall last month, might have refreshed the surface, although to predict that.
And the new snow should have long since disappeared from the road.

It is certainly doable, but probably not very pleasant. The snowpack is looking pretty thin near the bottom.

Here are a few photos from 10/6:

For a remote view, go here:
mtadams.tv/
... then below the picture go to the link embedded in the text that says:
"You can now click here to see the non processed image directly from the camera for comparison. This also serves as a link to the full resolution image if maybe you're a climber and want to see more detail of the mountain."
When you save that image to your computer, you can zoom pretty far in on the SW Chutes while still preserving decent quality.

I wouldn't recommend it. Typical season is June-July

Db- you would have one hell of a long trip getting in there. I was plowing snow with the front bumper of a full sized truck up on old man pass yesterday, which is at 3k.

If you don't have a sled, or multiple days to kill skinning in there you aren't getting very far in the gifford right now.

If you do have a sled, I'm your huckleberry...
