Under cold and windy conditions we made a ski circumnavigation of Illumnination Rock on Mt Hood.
We went counter clockwise, dropping over Illumination Saddle on some nice carvable wind-deposit.  The Reid was totally filled in and provided the best skiing of the day.   A steep traverse to the ridge bordering the Reid to the south provided an exit at ~8100' .   We continued around I-Rock and eventually had to skin a few hundred feet to get over Big Zig Zag Cyn.

Nice work Nick. I see there's as much rime on Hood as ever.

I love the exit shot from the Reid.

The light on the horizon on Sunday was spectacular. A few of your photos captured it well -

That rime just looks otherworldly...

Note that every other volcano in the NW was in bright sunshine, while Hood was stuck under a huge black soul sucking lenticular.

Yes "soul sucking lenticular" is a good way to put it. Maybe Ullar was upset there was too many AT skiers on Mt Hood on Sunday? It did make for some nice colors though.
