June 30, 2017, Mt. Daniel

Daniel is in prime condition right now. You can ski all the way to the trail below Peggy's pond, plus, after walking back to the ridge between Cathedral Rock and Squaw Lake, you can ski a bunch of that ridge too. I skied at 1:30 on a warm day. Snow was a bit over-ripe. Although the road has deteriorated (again), you can drive to the trail head. I was in a small truck with good clearance, but I think a Subaru would be fine. We took bikes, but didn't need them.

We poked around the spire below the East Peak and found the Daniel Glacier more open than early summer in previous years.
