Lost skis in SW chutes was created by andyski
Reward for a pair of skis was left at about the 9,800 mark in SW chutes last weekend. They were left skiers left of the mainline, above a prominent rock band and rib. Could have fallen from there since last weekend. They are Blizzards. I'm in Seattle.

Skied the chutes this past Monday...didn't spot any lonely skis, but I hadn't seen this post at the time and wasn't looking for them.

Don't hold out on us! How did you leave a pair in the chutes? Glissade was just too damn appealing?

Will trade full story for skis :).

FA: you'll get the full version in L4, hopefully in early December.

Had to do with a self-rescue in my party. Needed to get out of the skis to get somewhere rocky, but the very touchy exit required moving fast due to immediate overhead hazard from snow/rocks via a route that didn't allow for a quick/safe ski recovery :'(.

Major props for the self-rescue and stepping up big time to help out your party member!

Thanks all. As is often the case, the self-rescuer was the one that stepped up the most.

Lemme know if skis show up this weekend!

I looked around and traversed far over on Sunday, but I suspect that I ended up ~200' too low when I entered that unskied chute, as well as a little bit too far to the skier's right still.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to look again on Monday since I was solo and hence didn't want to be wandering too far away from the beaten path.
Plus I had some concern about rockfall that far left (especially how those unskied lines end up down low...).

Here's the view looking down from where I was probably the closest on Sunday. I suspect that I needed to do from that point was to hike back up ~200' vertical to the ascender's right. Then again, I could have been at the right spot yet missed the skis even if they were there among rocks -- last year's experience at the base of the SW Chutes made me realize how even a large red object can look like yet another rock from a distance.
[Edit, whoops, no view yet -- max file size is still 260k here?!?]
