This was my third time down the chutes (2013, 2014, 2017) and these was the best conditions yet. Managed to get the minivan up to the TH once again (2013, 2014, 2017) and these were the worst road conditions yet. The road to Morrison is so good; why can't the last few miles to CS get some love?

Stunning, utterly still morning. Departed 615; hit skinnable snow in 20 min. We, however, elected to just walk in our trail runners all the way to Lunch Counter. As always, there to Pikers was tough and as we started the final push, the wind turned ON. Pulling over the lip to the bench at pikers, the wind had to be 30-40 mph? It was nuts. We were concerned about dropping the chutes (even the final pitch to pikers (full sun) had not softened much by noon).

After much waffling, which consumed an hour, we dropped the chutes at 1. Upper 500' was really scratchy, but it quickly turned into PERFECT, buttery smooth corn. We had first tracks for the day, but we were quickly joined by another pair, whose hooting and hollering mixed with our own. Conditions stayed GREAT all the way to the exit bowl on the left, where they got a bit sticky.

9 hours car to car; not bad for two old dudes. Truly incredible skiing. Hope you all go get some. The campground is all melted out. There were dozens of cars there Weds night, and I can only imagine what Friday night will be like!

Dave.

I'm always torn.  It's so good, but it's always such a cluster if all you have are weekends.  Given a choice between the North/East side of Hood and the South side of Adams this weekend, we are opting for Hood.  There will be some regret.
