Cloud Cap Inn Road
« on: 06/21/17, 12:27 PM »

I know you can park at TJ trailhead and walk up, but anyone been up the road to Cloud Cap Inn? USFS website has it listed as closed, but they're usually slow to update websites.

Dufur ranger office has no idea, and Hood River ranger office hasn't answered phone calls in several days.

I stopped at the HR ranger station today to ask the same question. It is still "closed by snow." The gate near the Tilly Jane TH is shut.

Rangers have told me that they gate that particular road to protect it from vehicular use during wet periods. I have mixed feelings about gating FS roads, but their methods seem to be working at Cloud Cap. The CC road is slightly rough, but is nothing when compared to the riverbed that is the approach to Cold Springs on Adams.
