Hello All,

I am new to backcountry skiing & wondering if anyone can recommend a pair of glacier googles they like? I'm looking at investing in a pair? Thanks for your help & recommendations!

Sure ,
I'd stay away from the classic look glasses that have leather side shields(sweaty) .

I have prescriptions glacier glasses with a very minor 11% bi focal for reading altimeter and field repairs. Got them from Opticus. (Not related ) good folks and very helpful on the phone,

Stay away from goggles. They are way too warm for climbing -- sweat, fog, soggy foam.

I have been using Julbos for years, and don't have any complaints. The flexible stems allow you to fine tune fit and hook them comfortably around your ears for safe keeping. Most come with magnetic side shields, but I rarely use them because I am a sweaty pig.

In the '70s I got what is now sold as the Julbo Vermont.  Worked great for decades.   About 7 years ago got some Julbo Tenzing glasses, which also are working well and quite a bit lighter.

+1 for opticus. I sent them my Julbo Dolgan frames to get prescription Sierra lenses in. I swear they are better than my regular doctors office glasses.

Thanks for your help! I have heard of Julbo but not Opticus. I appreciate it!

Julbo Explorer +1. My absolute favorite lenses are 7Eye by Panoptx Sharp Copper lenses - they don't really make glacier glasses - but great lenses

Julbo Tensing. Darkest you can get for the price. Also can survive a some serious face plants.
