Took advantage of this last of the sunny days for the immediate local meteorological future.

We were amazed how isothermic it still is out there. After all those warm days (but apparently not cool enough nights) we had anticipated a little more consolidation of the snow-pack.

Crust, firmness, mush changed rapidly even within a short amount of space with shade, wind, terrain, slope angle, and seemingly inversionary activity (and moon?) all playing a role.
The small amount of evening crust was quickly dissipated once the sun was fully unleashed from its earlier-in-the-day high cloud cover. We were more or less done skiing by about noon.

Always interesting to see how the weather cooks up conditions. Fun was had traipsing through the Snoqualmie laboratory.

with some crust still intact Jacob styled this line with much more finesse than I ever could on my skis...  momentary board envy ensued

up into the sun

more N-rthrly tending isotherm held together better

sunnier let loose

Really nice to still be able to skin straight from the car... not every year is this good.
