May 7, 2017, Sloan Peak, North Ridge

Another Mtn Loop trip, four of us drove a bit further past three cars heading up Bedal.  We were blocked by a 12" log across the road 1/4 mile from the Bedal Cr TH.  Kevin pulled out his giant saw and chopped it like nothing.  We were really impressed! The road is bare all the way to the TH.  The trail is bare for a half mile, then snow covered but easy to walk.  We put skins on near the open meadow, then headed upward into old growth forest.



The saddle between Bedal and Sloan is a popular camp spot to explore Sloan.  From the saddle we followed the ridge to the last flat spot below the summit block.





We found mostly hard crust on the glacier slopes, and decided to simply ski May powder back down  the ridge.
