We were driving to the area and about 8 miles away it was snowing. The road was covered with fresh snow, and the snowplow had plowed and sanded the road. We arrived early and planned to park in our usual spot in the RV area. Unfortunately that particular area hadn't been plowed and had enough fresh snow that we got stuck! I used all my new words plus “oh shit”. After shoveling snow away from the stuck tires, the usual back and forward movements finally got us out. This has happened only once before and it was last year. Then we did a quick move to the car parking area.

We picked up our lift tickets using our MAX Passes and rode in a snowstorm and fog. There was about 6” of new at the top of the Pine Martin lift. We skied down Red Line trail in nice powder at the top and heavy spring powder half way down to the base. Untracked lines were fun top to bottom, but the cut up lines were heavy and not as much fun. It was a game of “get first tracks and smile, get seconds and frown”. We rode the Cloudchaser lift early, and the upper lines were nice powder, but the eastern side of the mountain gets warm fast. The 4 express lifts had great lines early. The weather was very erratic – wind, snow, sun, powder, sleet and rain – then repeat. We felt the rain coming and got to the van before it started. Then it changed to sun. Go figure. You can fool us once, but not twice.... So we made coffee, fixed and enjoyed lunch, and moved on.
