Did a fun over night, and mastiff mountain plan b on Sunday. Mastiff had great coverage and ok snow on its east face.

Parked 50' from highway to on the Merritt lake road... Skins on, only came off for 50' for the whole ascent! Snow is getting thin, but the boot work will still be light for rock mountain traverses coming out this way.

Tour up was on the route posted by john morrow a few years ago, following the ridge direct, west of the summer trail. We started late, and arrived to camp at 10pm. Camping on the ridge, just before it knifes out., At the top of the obvious chute to the lake. Huge cornices!

Beautiful clear calm night.

Descent to the  lake in the am was in preserved powder. Great run.

Tour up to mastiff was in slowly softening snow. Sun was out, but so was the wind.  So windy we didn't bother going to the summit. Topped out around 6,500'+, and rode mostly wind deposited or soft snow back to lost lake. Fun.

Skin back to camp was mostly straight forward and easy near the summer trail.

Left camp after 4 pm for highway 2. Variable conditions, but we where able to link terrain and turns for a majority of the way back to the car.. challenging!. Opting for boots at the power lines.. the lowest 500' might be in danger of melting soon.

Thanks for the beta, I'll be heading up there very soon.

Thanks for the TR, I can see it from town every morning! Need to go!

Sounds fun!  thanks for the TR
