My friend and Alaskan ripper Jaime Van Lanen (snowsavage on other forums) sent me this link and asked me to share it. It's a worthwhile read with adventure, and some history of the sport

Very cool! Hopefully the locals can keep their traditions, but with China's reputation they will have to fight. Maybe ski tourism can help save that part of their culture?

Thanks for sharing,
While snowsavage does some impressive things in the mountains, I'm far more envious of his ability to travel and connect with different cultures like he does. Love his articles, writing style, and genuine humility.

Cool you get to ride with him. Maybe someday....

Wow!  What a great read!!!  I have my late father's early
19xx skis which he used to tend his trap line in Northern MN

He would sell his furs to Sears & Roebuck to fund his college.
His father once sent him out in the snow with their rifle & 3
bullets to get a deer.  He tracked the deer with snowshoes into deep snow exhaustion
and slit it's throat, saving the three bullets.
