March 19th Roosevelt Holy Diver
« on: 03/20/17, 01:40 PM »

Victor & rampaged up Roosevelt for the Holy Diver.
The rain crust from Friday was everywhere, but under about 4-6 of dry, unconsolidated snow, less at lower elevations. Sun however was making wetslides at breakfast time in the east-gully approach so we went up through the trees to the east ridge & booted up in crampons & using other spikely appendages, went up to the summit and watched blips ski across the lake.
The diver was not so steep as I remembered it. The snow was soft and plentiful and the skiboarding was perfecto.
We went all the way to Lower Wildcat lake for a full tour, stopping to boot up and put the shredder on a sweet looking gully. Tea by the lake.
Crusty-clown was under the new snow, being a nuisance while we skinned back up in the glory of the Cascades backyard to the east ridge of Roosevelt, back down the increasingly heavy manky sunsnow, over the lake & home.
Rockin!

And more pics with Jake's special extra attachment that transforms the whippet closer to an ice ax (ask Jake for purchasing!)
