Good article in the Wenatchee World about the recent Cedar Creek avalanche:

Avalanche victim: ‘They were rock stars’

www.wenatcheeworld.com/news/2017/mar/16/...were-rock-stars8217/

I was interested to learn the names of the party members.

I skied with the guide, John Sunderland, on a NCHS trip I won in the NWAC auction raffle in 2010.

I worked with John Forsen, one of the rescuers, on the Washington State Ski and Snowboard Museum project.

Both great guys, and very experienced.

This brings the story home for me.

Hard to imagine how anyone would typecast these people as in it only to "pump up their facebook egos."

Good to see their dignity and dimensionality documented. Kudos to a well executed rescue. Nicely done!

A little more about John Forsen. I know him as one of our region's top ski documentary producers.

There's a wikipedia page on him:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Forsen

Back in 1987 he produced a documentary film on 50 years of skiing in the Northwest. And as you can see from wikipedia, he's been pretty busy since then.
