January 14, 2006, Mt. Catherine, Snoqualmie Pass

Skinned up Mt. Catherine on Saturday.  Spitting rain in the summit east parking lot at first.  Wandered the ski trails a bit before discovering we were too high up and had to ski down some logged terrain and across a valley to get to our destination.  There are a lot of interesting creek crossings down in that valley.  Once we caught the groomed trail and bridge again, we skinned into the old growth on a counter-clockwise climbing traverse.  The snow became really nice at a very distinct elevation (just below the cliff bands).  Topped out and had a great ski down until the glop down low.  Not a lot of views, but fun skiing.  Snow was quite stable in the trees.
