This is likely the same avalanche that was mentioned in the avalanche forecast on February 19th, which most likely ran during the storm on the 15th/16th.

was the exact location of the avalanche mentioned  in the avalanche forecast?

Accuracy of data reporting matters. That way folks will understand that 'good2go' is a frequent performer.

i was in the haipin valley on the 17th and there were several large slab releases that occured during or after that storm in the two of the ne bowl-gulley systems. (cliff and steroid bowl)

There was a thin ice crust lower down to around 6,400' heading to pica bowl,
that gave way to a thicker crust, higher up with the 10'' to a foot of new on top of those crusts. A quick shear test got good results with an easy q1 at the crust new snow interface.

we tested and skiied a few 40 degree rolls with no results. A cut at the 'chunnel' top did get a small surface sluff to move 10 vert feet or so.

we skied the 3rd lap from pica col. It had some fresh cornice chunks in it with new snow on them.

when we skinned in and split off from the guide track at the valley bottom, we saw that guided group breaking trail up through
the major slide paths at the head of the hairpin valley. I gave a shout to let the guide know that we were heading up through the safer old growth trees into pica bowl area.

The guide appeared to be heading to 'hidden bowl' and this was later confirmed at the pica bowl 'panty tree' when both our groups converged there.

It is intesting to note that were we considering heading to the lower angle testing in the blue peak area that day, but my partner didn't want to get dropped on by the heli. That thing does influence the choices we make.

BTW,jeff, good to finally meet you at the mazama store.

two sets of principles. They are the principles of power and privilege and the principles of truth and justice. If you pursue truth and justice it will always mean a diminution of power and privilege. If you pursue power and privilege, it will always be at the expense of truth and justice
