Blewitt Freezing Rain 2/9/17
« on: 02/09/17, 11:53 AM »

Checked conditions this morning and freezing rain at 25 degrees at 3,000' has ruined 2' of good powder along 97. I was a day too late....

Yeah, I had a great short tour yesterday at the end of#2 Canyon and would have loved to head back today but the freezing rain has done it's damage.

Went into Upper Tronson to maybe 5,000' and it was nasty windcake with an ice frosting...nearly unturnable...solitude, beauty, exercise...

At some point the crust will soften but will be too thin to be supportative so that won't really help. Maybe there are some places a guy could get lucky...

I think it needs to get covered and then go from there.
