Opened the gate at 11:45 yesterday, spent a few hours breaking trail in 2 ft of new light powder (knee-waist deep in places even on my Atomic R:EX; snowshoers keeling over, etc.).  Came out in 40 mph wind.  Nice calm day today, with 4 inches or so of new, but lots of nice powder from yesterday and 6 inches fell while we were there; they didn't open till 1200!!! with 4 inches of new >:( >:( >:(; even at noon, the recorded msg said opening at 10 a.m.  these guys need some leadership and supervision!!!  Anyhow nice powder on Mazama, but we kept off steeps/east slopes cuz avy danger was rated high. but the skiing was the best of the season to date!
Nice report Andy.
Hey lookee here, You live close  and have lots of extra time. Why don't you volunteer to give those rangers some supervision! :-)
We would be eternally grateful!
