Susan and I took new friend Nils for a walk in the woods.

Pow over crust. The crust's strength increases with elevation, becoming rock hard above 4k.

Several recent slides observed in the gullies of Kendall's west slopes. Large cornice-like chunks present in all of the slides.

Solar heating drove lots of small pinwheels peppering the Commonwealth exit in the open slope that adjoins the waterfall. Tree bombs were chunky. Rumor mill suggests someone got hit by one (they're OK) on Kendall Knob.

Steep high elevation trees very scratchy skiing. Best snow on mellow open slopes and in sheltered slopes below 4k.
thanks !
That helped me make up my mind about sunday.

In addition, a friend leaving Stevens for Leavenworth around 5pm reports pouring rain at Smithbrook Road.

Tough decision for tomorrow.

Paradise, if you can do the road trip ! easy for me to say sitting in Sumner .
