What isn't clear from the top list but is from further reading of the post is that you are required to check in with patrol when traveling through any of the ski area.
Thanks for posting

This policy seems sound and reasonable.  Not an attempt to just "throw the bums off our mountain", like you see in other areas.  Probably not as easy to climb as before, but not heavy handed to the point of making the entire area inaccessible to skinning.

I am particularly impressed that they don't carry this idea to ban any up hill traffic on their runs while the lift are spinning.  That has always seemed bogus to me since downhill skiers are required to ski in control and avoid objects and people below them.   As a downhill skier, if you can't avoid potential collisions you are an idiot to be skiing on that run and should be escorted by ski patrol to a less challenging run.  Out of control is not cool.  If you hit somebody doing it you are the problem, not the person, mogul, tree, or lift tower you hit! Crystal actually seems to understand this as a downhill control problem not an up hill traffic problem.  I have to give them credit for having a brain and using it.  They actually seem to understand and encourage the sport of skiing.  To bad so many other areas have their heads up their next real estate scam.

Thanks Seth for helping to get the word out about our new Uphill Travel Policy at Crystal. I added a photo on our blog post from last week to further define the demarcation between Southback and the rest of Silver Basin. There seems to be a few questions out there about where it's okay to go. I've also posted a sign where uphill traffic needs to veer left towards Henskin Lake. Thanks to all for your understanding.

I am fine with this, but it would be nice if Crystal Mountain would offer the "one time up the mountain" ticket to the top of chair 6 again. Crystal would make some extra money, and the backcountry folk would still get access to Southback.

There seems to be a few questions out there about where it's okay to go.

When is it OK to park in the spots closer to the bathrooms? Seems to be lots of empty space on weekdays and sometimes I just can't hold it long enough to walk the entire length of the lot. How about some bathrooms closer to where the regular guests must park, seems fair to me.

Gatoraid bottles work for storing water both before and after the water has been processed by human kidneys

My kids would love pissing in a bottle but their aim isn't so good
so I think we'll keep doing it like the bears or rv lot residents do.

Sorry if I missed this but does anyone know what Crystal's uphill policy is for post season skiing? Thinking of heading up their "inbounds" terrain today but don't want to cause any issues given the new policy. The only language I found was around uphill travel into Southback "When the ski area is open for the season, all uphill travel into Southback is prohibited." To me this implies when the resort is closed for the season uphill travel MAY be allowed in this particular area, but isn't clear whether checking with patrol etc. is necessary after their season ends.

toured inbounds today and saw nothing to indicate it's not cool. Pretty fun skiing, too.

Thanks- likewise went yesterday and didn't see anything that made it seem like it would be an issue. I called the patrol line but unsurprisingly there was no answer and the yellow light at the base signalling no uphill travel was also dark. Had a blast out there!
