Great day in the mountains with friends, however, Diamondhead is currently not covered well enough to ski from the summit unless you want to pick up some deep core shots like me. Looking back at a few turns revealed paths of rock. Skiing down was sketchy, and I was relieved no one fell and got injured by rocks lurking under the snow surface. We got some nice turns lower down on the fan below Diamondhead without hitting anything. The climb was fun and the view was beautiful, but we would have been better off cycling the lower slopes.
Which aspect were you skiing?
East-NE slope. We climbed the north ridge, which was wind-scoured with lots of exposed rock up high, the west face also had lots of exposed rock, the East face appeared to be filled in, hopefully it will be in better shape soon.
