Went to bed thinking the avy danger was moderate and woke up to a considerable rating...hmmmm.  Maybe I'll just dig my own pits and figure this thing out for myself. Regardless, the word from Ranger Dave was that the pack was very reactive! What to do? We decided to play it conservatively and skied mostly low angle slopes and still managed to have a good time.  Depth of new snow varied from a foot of blower pow in sheltered and shaded zones to 3 to 4 inches on wind blown aspects with a crust layer lurking below. Sun exposed slopes were getting damp towards the end of the day.

A small slab avy was brought to our attention by a snowboarder who set it off above the road... NWAC observation verified!! Thanks NWAC.
