With the ridiculously deep and light snow pack, touring has been a bear, so I have spent most of my time during the last 5 of the last 6 days skiing lift-served at Meadows.
Cascade and Vista opened up on Tuesday 12/13. No significant snowfall since Sunday's 18 or so inches of extra light snow.
On Tuesday groom was very smooth packed pow corduroy. Large soft moguls on ungroomed terrain. Private reserve gates were open - Elk/yoda and God's wall. Best turns were found through the gates. God's wall, elk cliffs and bowls, plus fright trees were extra deep and fairly untracked.
Huge snow bombs and extra deep tree wells abound. Bridges in heather are pretty narrow and thin. Will need 1-2 more feet for solid bridges and for Heather gates to open up.
