I got a crack of noon start and, as the gate was closed at Longmire, I skied up to Rampart Ridge, across the top, and down a different trail.

All trails and campground at Longmire have enough snow to ski.

No skins needed.
No need to remove skis.
Thigh deep snow w/ powder on ridge top talus slope - too deep for my skis.
Fell over, took five minutes to extacate myself.
Ski down was great.  Not a death-by-tree icy luge run.
