Skiing With Silas was created by flowing alpy
I mean who hasn't and the stories they can tell.
FKNA this is deserving of it's own thread, especially here.

I skied with Silas today at West.
Funny story,
I once let Silas borrow my skis
and in his spirited glee
they took him to a place
in the Alpy BC he did NOT want to be.

Silas has more stoke than any three twenty-year olds. Skiing with him is always a hoot, plus he has a nose for the goods.

Fast and light

Fast and light

Silas, fast and light?
What poet wouldn't bite?

(apologies to Omar Khayyam:)

A Book of Tours underneath the "Cow",
A Jug of Beer, a Loaf of Bread—and Thou
Beside me skinning in the "Wild"ness—
Oh, Wildness on the Paradise enow.

Silas made an appearance this morning bright and early to keep the padded seats company.
I lost him in the shuffle between 1 & 2 and ended up solo loading beneath skies brighter than his jacket's blue.
We crossed paths in l'Internationale but was long gone by the time I made it thru the gate to sample yesterday's leftover pow.
I suppose he was disheartened with the conditions, firm & chunky, as I never saw him back up top skiing down the funky.

Silas made a full assessment of the hacked
country conditions for an entire lap of Elevator!
There were no hoots nor gleefully linked turns but
there was a strong constitution to get down intact:-)
Well done Silas, you still got the crap battling spirit!

Skied a run with Silas today! He convinced his buddy Crispin it would be ok to give skiing a try. They started at Alpental but last I saw was a blue wagon headed to the ski acres. Good Luck Gentleman

This thread coulda got buried but the subject just keeps delivering.
Our hero loaded the padded seats today, minding his own business, tips up and everything! Ready for some things and eager to learn, Silas spotted a ski moments after loading and deciding he'd go for the grab. For a moment the execution was flawless but the next moment, gravity took ahold of our hero and slowly, ever so slowly the helpful Silas tipped off the padded seat and into the snow. Secure in health and utterly oblivious to the crowd below, he waded back to the lift, ski in tow, grabbed a single and headed back up to the Padded Seat terminus. Great Try Silas Great Try! Thank You for the inspiration and positive energy you provide, you are a good guy. Nice seeing you today!

Kind words Chris, thank you.  The crowd was also very kind to forgive the delay I caused on the busiest day I have ever endured!  810-940am waiting for loading to begin in my TLT5P Thin Palau liners was chilly especially when the little breeze kicked up. Those boots are made for walking, not waiting.

The luckiest guy of the day was clearly the one who spotted my chair two antics on his final approach to the 20min lift line and cruised right in to assist me on my solo reload.  The smartest guy was Morgan, who skinned to 5200' and skied Phantom Trees while we all stood around for 1.5hours.

After working hard descending the cut up deep snow down International in my flyweight uphill gear, I headed for Silver Fir Senior Center lunch and some ego boosting soft groomers to relax. Apologies to all for causing the delay this morning, sorry I still have not learned to leave challenging work to trained professionals.

Looks like we will have a great Cinqo party this year, and likely Solstice skiing too!

Silas was spoken of today by a few of us who  have skied with him (one of whom was on skis that Silas recommended after one of his ski review junkets), while we enjoyed lots of bouncy turns at the  other end of Boyne's Summit domain. No waiting there today!

My favorite comment about skiing with Silas was on his "100 months" congratulatory thread, from Greg Mueller, who wrote (as I remember it at least) "Congratulations  Silas, for 100 months of losing  your partners" ;-)

Missed ya today Silas. The two skiers across from Armstrong this morning were comedy and just what we needed while waiting in line.

Didn't ride c2 with the 45 minute line.

I spied Silas sloshing the cream cheesed bumps beneath the Summit's newest chair this morning.
Unfortunately I was unable to catch up with him and settled for tagging along with the snowbikers instead.
Conditions were certainly better than expected, esp. in the Hyakcountry.

Hmm, Silas didn't seem lonely when I went through the gate yesterday morning. I recall several attractive young women and a lot of shouting. But it may have been due to hypoxia. ;)

This Hero must be training for something cuz he was at Alpental again yesterday.
No reason he should be there otherwise, gates were closed and not a female in sight.

I believe Silas has been reading between the lines of my padded seats reports... I thought he would've learned his lesson about doing that the day we all showed-up to a crusted-over Denny Mtn w/ no open gates back in Dec. ;)
