Lots of love for the slot on facebook, but no posts on TAY, so I thought I'd share it here too. As of Saturday (12/3), the Slot was skiing really well. The approach was a bit challenging and bushwacky with both mini-cliffs requiring a bootpack. During our climb it was graupeling hard, especially in the upper Phantom, and not sticking well to a crust that had formed on Thursday or Friday. I'd expect pockets of instability from the graupel layer until this storm fully flushes it out. The wind was gusty at ridgeline, but due to the crust, there wasn't much transport except for spindrift rolling off the cliffs. In the line, there was a windbuff layer over crust that allowed for fun, high-speed turns in the lower section. Higher up it was still pretty firm and narrow, so more cautious turns were made. On the way out, the exit couloir (is there an actual name?) was easy and bootable. It was misting lightly at the car when we exited, but we were able to ski back to the road.
