January 2, 2005, Willamette Pass

Decided to get up to the mountain to see what was in store after a week of yo-yo snow levels that produced both rain and snow in the cascades and wasn't dissapointed. I arrived a bit late at 9:30, and spent the first hour riding the groomed trails with my sister and her boyfriend. After that I ventured off the trails and into the trees, where there was about a foot of fresh. The backside has a base of around 60-70 inches. The steeps towards West Peak were in good condition and very few riders ventured out that way, making for plentiful face shots. The lift lines were short for the most part, although they seemed to stop more than normal. All in all it was a great day.
