Passing the baton was created by Marcus
It's been about 6 years since I took over stewardship of Turns All Year from Charles and it's time to hand over the reins once more.  I've never been much of a businessman and I'm far less skilled than Charles at the technical side of running a website, but it's been a lot of fun to hack my way through it and get to know this great community a bit better.  Chris Mosetick has volunteered to lead the charge in the next phase of TAY's growth.

With big career changes in the past few years and a lot less free time, TAY has languished somewhat and needs a more capable caretaker with the time and enthusiasm to keep it from becoming defunct.  Facebook and the host of social media have had an interesting impact on post volumes - I'll be curious to watch from the sidelines as Chris takes over.

Thank you all for being an awesome community of (mostly, but not overly) likeminded folks.  It's been a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to finding a seat in the peanut gallery again.

Marcus, that was a great run. I've been impressed with your performance with TAY, especially knowing that you went through nursing school, did S & R missions worked a real job, and all the other things that life throws our way, during your term. The old adage "if you want a job done right give it to a busy person" sure seems to ring true in your case; I don't know how you could have been much busier during your stewardship of TAY. Excellent work.

Chris, I don't know you well but from what I do know of you it is obvious that you will be an apt and efficient steward of our backcountry community. Backcountry skiing has grown immensely since Charles, Jeanette and I discussed the pros and cons of adding an interactive forum to Charles' small  collection of personal trip reports he called Turns All Year during a backcountry tour at Crystal Mountain many years ago. It will be fun to see how it all continues to grows under your tutelage. You have my complete support.

Thank you for your hard work!

Social media has made changes in how we share, but I'd rather come here and see just skiing than wade through all the b.s. on social media. The photo quality is better to.

Yahoo!

I had planned to send this email as a private message, but I really want folks who follow the TAY site to know a little about you.

I would say that you never give up, but keep your head focused on what really needs to be done in life.  Many times life has different things that move to the top of the list.  Here are some of the things on your life list that I noticed in the 6 years :

·         The transfer of TAY from Charles to you
·         Your medical classes and training
·         The best part  -- your life with Anastacia
·         Your Sprinter conversion into a travel condo
·         Your new 4-pawed ‘buddy’ that scared you on a big day hike
·         The avy incident on a powder day across the road from Alpental
·         Your medical training with the Mountain Rescue team
·         Your climbing on ‘the walls’
·         The sailing and touring trip with Martin and Gina Volken on the west coast of Norway (Jill and I  were there this August)

TAY

We look forward to future trip reports about your adventures.

Thanks!

Zap & Jill

Marcus time just slips by, hard to think you have been at the tiller for six years. I know you have been a busy guy, I have no idea how hard it must be to keep all the balls in the air, and still take care of TAY. I suppose it must be a labor of love/hate, thanks for the great job. I love this place and it has enriched my life in so many ways, know that sounds corny but it is true. Thanks so much, I look forward to your comments from the peanut gallery!

Thanks for your stewardship of TAY, Marcus!

Though I've started to use Facebook as well, I think TAY remains far superior for discussions and trip reports. Each medium has its place.

I'm looking forward to TAY remaining vibrant under Chris Mosetick's guidance.

Onward!
