Finishing up work for the 2016 season in Thredbo and an opportunity to get out into the high country for some spring touring. Perfect warm spring weather with a great freeze thaw cycle. NE aspect skiing beautifully while shaded south aspects remain firm through the day.
At 2229 meters Mt. Kosciuszko is Australia's highest peak and one of the 7 summits? (the Bass version) whilst hardly being in the same league as it's other 6 constituents, a ski descent from the highest point of Australia is high on my ski touring novelty list, and hey, when in Rome... do as the Romans do.
A fairly pedestrian skin from our lift bump at Thredbo left us with only 6km's to cover and had us on top by 11am. We found some excellent pitch and fun laps off the broad SE ridge of Kosciuszko which sports a nicely corniced slope.
we banged out a few laps before returning to resort world and the safety of half litre schofferhofer Hefeweizen's at Black Sallies.

Nice going! I'm absolutely green with envy, skiing the highest mountain in Australia, and sweet corn. Nothing better!
Looks like great times. Oz doesn't always get great winter snow, but when we visited in 2004 we visited a major climbing area called Mount Arapiles, and the local climbing shop closed down because the staff went off to the Australian Alps for what they said was the best snow in over 20 years.
