Lubrication for pintech bindings was created by runningclouds
On the Emmons-Wintrop trip last week a fair amount of mud got into my Vipec bindings. I wiped them with a wet rag but it was not enough so I flushed the grit with water in the shower. The bindings are clean but a bit stiff and squeaky, especially the toe.

I emailed Diamir and their reply, properly translated was: "Dear owner your are too stupid to do it yourself, take the binding to an authorized dealer, thank you for buying our product." I am really not impressed with the ever growing list of products that come without do it yourself maintenance.

I am thinking about using a silicone spray, or WD-40, or chain lube? The Vipec is made from a combination of plastic and metal parts. Does it matter?

I use a silicon paste (got from an Auto Parts store) on my pins and pin slots and on the toe and toe pins. Another option that I am using now is Phil Wood waterproof grease that is plastic compatible www.wildsnow.com/11446/la-sportiva-spectre-review/

Lou has got all the info over at wildsnow! See: www.wildsnow.com/2774/dynafit-binding-lubrication/

The long and short is Dynafit uses Molykote as a lubricant, G3 apparently sells a binding grease, and Lou recommends white lithium for binding lube.

Seems like any plastic compatible grease should work.

Let us know what you do and how it works out.

After I received the unhelpful reply from Diamir in Switzerland I emailed Black Diamond customer support, their response:

"I would first suggest spraying the bindings with a silicon based spray. This will lubricate the binding and should get rid of the squeak and loosen them up. If you have any concerns that the binding was affected on your trip the next step would be to any ski shop and have them test the binding. I do believe that the silicon spray will fix any issues you are having."

Update after 2 days out: In the end I sprayed the silicon, using the straw option, on all moving parts then worked the G3 lube in where possible. I have skied two full days so far and the binding works smoothly and without any noise.
