Nate and I were finally able to sneak a good Volcano day in this very busy stage of life. Slept at the trial head in a megamid, definitely had mice crawling on our faces in the night. Up at 3, on  trail at 4, light out by 4:40....crazy. Soupy clouds made us fear for the worst, but we pushed on hoping we'd punch through. Sure enough at 5500' we punched through the low cloud layer for a spectacular sunrise over Shuksan and Kulshan. Zipped up the the right of craigview and then up the steps of the Squak. We didn't rope up at all as it was firm and the cracks were few. There are two bridge crossings higher up around 8-9k that were narrow and well established.

Got to the summit crater to see the great mt. baker summit white out developing. We had come well prepared for inclement weather so we pushed on. We skinned up the roman wall with ski crampons (questionable decision) and topped out with 10' visibility.

Skiing was awesome once we got onto the mid squak, great vis and awesome high speed corn turns.

6 up, 2 down. The route is in real good shape and looked far less broken than the Easton. It looked like there were two or three guided parties snailing up the easton. Yay skiing!

Nice report, guys.
Done for the season, or maybe have another in ya?
