Busy at work, so only quick words.  Still skiable from the Timberline parking lot. Left the lot not too long after sunrise (6:30?), with oodles of climbers already visible above the Hogsback. Ski crampons handy in the upper reaches. A few consequential rocks detached from Crater Rock as we reached the crater. The climbing route was surprisingly un-crowded by the time we reached the Hogsback saddle around 10 am.

We'd ruled out climbing above the schrund before we'd left the lot, but the routes looked wonderful. We'll make a more-nuanced ruling out next time. West crater rim ski lines looked grand. Good corn off the Hogsback, then foot massage in the crater. We'd never been to Illumination Saddle, so we made the traverse; pretty. Zig-Zag was super-smooth and fast -- narrow skis loved it. Just getting a little mushy at the lodge around 11:30a.

Was one of your group skiing backwards down Zig Zag?
Nicely done!

I can attest to the west crater rim skiing well. Made some sweet turns down it Sunday around 2pm. Snow stayed excellent all the way to the lot thanks to cloud cover lower on the mountain.
