I was lured off the couch by my old ski buddy, Dan, who wanted to ski on Daniel this weekend. His plan was to walk uphill in the 30 percent chance of rain on Sunday, and ski in the 100 percent chance of sun on Monday.  We experienced the rain on Sunday, but we also got sunshine, fresh snow, and fresh tracks on Monday.

Deep lake had some interesting melt patterns:

glacier Pk. From the south:

Tabula Rasa. From the about 20 feet below the east peak. WOO HOO!

Every turn was bliss. New snow (from Sunday's lower rain) on smooth surface.

The blank slate continues:

Dan on the traverse. Even the boring parts were fun.

Skiing toward Peggy's Pond

I lured Dan to the dark side. This might be Dan's first dirt skiing. Nice work Dan!

We met several folks on the trail. I'm curious about the young group headed to Hinman. I wonder if they made it over there. I bet the skiing on the north side was good. We found the skiing at 10AM on the east side of Daniel just slightly cooked. I think 9:30 would have been perfect. Even so, it was really really good skiing.
Great report!

New camera?

I did get a new camera. Impressed that you noticed :)

Nice TR Mike!

How was the road condition/Scatter Creek crossing?

Sweet, thanks for sharing.

Wondering about the road, too.

How was the road condition/Scatter Creek crossing?

The road was dry. The crossing was pretty deep, but cars were crossing without issue. I didn't see it, but I was told a prius made the crossing. There were only a handful of cars at the parking lot at the end of the road, but there was lots of traffic.

Looking good, Mike

Nice chatting with you on the way in Monday. Here is a glimpse of our trip.

Hi Mike,

This is Drew from the young group with overly ambitious plans to make it to Hinman. We were not as quick as I had anticipated and just skied the East Peak of Daniels like you guys. We had a blast though!

Of note, we did trigger a small loose wet slide coming off of the East Peak. No one was caught or injured and the rest of the run was good.

Great chatting with you!

It was good skiing though wasn't it? I think we followed your in-skin track on our way out. Good to meet you guys and gal.
